Margalla Hills Fire
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was informed of the Margalla hills fire and instructed the relevant authorities to assemble resources and start controlling it.
The prime minister has stated that necessary precautions will be taken to ensure that the fire doesn’t endanger human life. Furthermore, work is being done to extinguish fire in Islamabad’s Margalla hills Trails 3 and 5.
Pakistan’s army’s six aviation units and helicopters also participated in the firefighting effort. Still, teams on the ground need help putting out the fire.
On Tuesday the 28th of May 2024, the fire started at three locations along Trails 3 and 5 close to Quaid-e-Azam University and Saidpur. Although the cause of the fire on the hills is unknown, the NDMA sector has cautioned people to be cautious about forest fires, as they can be activated by both human activity and natural forces.
