Today is the 3rd death anniversary of the famous radio and television performer Begum Khursheed Shahid. Mrs. Shahid was a Delhi native who started her acting and singing career at All India Radio at the age of 9 and moved to Lahore, Pakistan, after the partition of India-Pakistan in 1947.

Begum Khursheed became famous through her roles in several well-known TV dramas, such as “Dhund,” “Kaanch Ka Pul,” “Waadi-e-Purkhar,” and “Ras Malai.”

Her services to the arts were acknowledged in 1995 when the Pakistani government honored her with the Pride of Performance award. Begum Khursheed Shahid died in Lahore in 2021.
