The ruler of Dubai’s daughter, Dubai princess divorces husband on Instagram. “I now declare our divorce,” read a post on Sheikha Mahra bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s verified Instagram account, announcing the breakdown of her union.
The BBC has contacted national authorities to get more information on the situation. Neither Sheikha Mahra’s father nor her husband, Sheikh Mana bin Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mana Al Maktoum, have made any public remarks.

“Dear Husband” is how the message started. It ends with “I divorce you, I divorce you, and I divorce you,” which appears to be an application of triple talaq, an Islamic tradition. Saying “I divorce you” three times enables husbands to quickly file for divorce from their spouses, a practice that is outlawed in many nations. The post further said, “Be careful. The woman you divorced.”
Sheikha Mahra’s account had all of her husband’s pictures removed. Photos of Sheikh Mana’s wife appear to have been deleted from his account as well. The couple’s first child was born two months ago, and they were joined in marriage in April 2023 in a sumptuous ceremony.
