The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has proposed that K-Electric increase the base electricity cost in Karachi from Rs. 33 to Rs. 44 by a total of Rs. 10.
This proposal is a component of K-E Electric’s investment plan, which classifies the development of fourteen new grid stations and the installation of 550 kilometres of transmission lines in Karachi over the next seven years

A public hearing about K-Electric’s application was held online by NEPRA on Thursday. K-Electric disclosed during the hearing that it is planning to invest $2 billion to upgrade the city’s electrical supply, distribution, and transmission infrastructure.
The national consistency of K- electric’s electricity pricing policy, Imran Rana, Director of Communication, gave NEPRA confidence that the increase in tariff would not impact Karachi’s electricity users.
