A mixed martial artist from Russia, Jeffrey Monson converts To Islam.
The 53-year-old athlete performed the Shahadah, the Islamic creed, at an Islamic center in Moscow with a scholar’s assistance in a video posted on June 20.

To stand in solidarity with his “brothers and sisters” in Palestine during these trying times, Monson revealed that he converted to Islam. As he talked about this new phase of his life, he became very emotional.
He called this trip a “deep metamorphosis” and claimed that Islam had given him the serenity and direction he had sought. Monson had been considering several different faiths before deciding on this one.
Monson, known for his accomplishments in mixed martial arts and jiu-jitsu, including world championship championships, is originally from St. Paul, Minnesota.
