In the Finance Division, McKinsey Partner Mr. Ali Malik and Mr. Tom Isherwood, Regional Head of Technology and Tax at McKinsey & Co., met with Federal Minister of Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb. Mr. Ali Pervaiz Malik, the State Minister, was also present at the conference.
The finance minister stressed the importance of promoting a cultural shift toward digital governance and investing in technology. He also emphasized the government’s resolve to enhance tax collection through the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) ‘s continuous digitalization initiatives.
The Minister further mentioned that FBR’s tax system may get digitalized using PRAL (Pakistan Revenue Automation Limited) and REMIT data. Using this data and creating daily reporting through dashboards to track real-time progress were discussed as potential ways to get quick wins. According to Minister of State Mr. Ali Pervaiz Malik, the ongoing exercise might be improved by effectively creating, organizing, and evaluating data.
The Minister of State emphasized how crucial a data-driven strategy is for enhancing project success overall. While thanking the Minister of Finance and Revenue for the meeting, the McKinsey team promised the Finance Minister that they would ensure that the project was completed within the allotted time.
