Minister Mohsin Naqvi Meets Pope Francis

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi received a hot welcome on his arrival from Pope Francis in Vatican City during his visit on June 4, 2024.

During Minister Mohsin’s meeting with Pope Francis, the promotion of peace, brotherhood, interfaith harmony, and dialogue were discussed, while Pope Francis praised the quick efforts to repair and reconstruct churches after the tragedy of Jaranwala.

Francis shared a message of peace with the people of Pakistan, which emphasized the need for everyone to work together for global peace. The Pope further highlighted Pakistan’s Prime Minister’s invitation to visit him, and he hopes to make the trip soon.

Despite receiving daily reports on humanitarian initiatives in Palestine, the Pope expressed concern about the situation there. He emphasized that the solution to such problems lies in interfaith cooperation and discussion. Minister Naqvi expressed her gratitude to Pope Francis for his widely appreciated strong position on the Palestine issue. He also told the Pope about Pakistan’s commitment to fighting terrorism and its sacrifices in that regard.

Minister Naqvi emphasized that the Pakistani government prioritizes safeguarding minorities. He said that the protection and well-being of minorities are emphasized in their religion, the teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), the Father of the Nation, and the Constitution. He said that every minority in Pakistan is guaranteed equal rights under the Constitution.

As the meeting ended, Pope Francis wished the people of Pakistan well and offered prayers for the country’s advancement and prosperity.
