The increased taxes and salaried individuals tax has drawn criticism from the Pakistan Tax Bar Association (PTBA), which described them as onerous. Additionally, the PTBA believes that granting Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) officials more authority will lead to increased harassment of taxpayers.

During a press conference on Thursday at the Karachi Press Club, PTBA President Anwar Kashif Mumtaz referred to the FY25 budget as business-obstructive and detrimental to economic activity.
Mumtaz stated that raising taxes on the salaried class exacerbates the difficulties for those who already comply with tax obligations. He further added that the business community would suffer due to the increased sales tax.

He expressed concerns that giving FBR officials more authority would lead to greater harassment of taxpayers. Instead of increasing the power of tax agents, he recommended that the government focus on digitization to reduce human interaction and improve efficiency.
