Instagram Stories Now Support Public Comments

Instagram stories, which are short-lived posts that are usually used more than normal posts, now allow its users to add comments. Responses to the stories were previously sent as private messages that were only accessible by the original poster. The new comments function allows public feedback from anyone who follows the poster and accepts a follow-up.

Similar to stories, these comments are only active for one whole day. For every story they share, users have the option to enable or disable comments. Instagram is looking into it, although it is unclear at this point if comments will remain visible after the story ends.

Instagram is working on adding more features to Instagram stories and reels, demonstrating that the app values these platforms for social interaction as much as for casual browsing. They have recently started using notes that vanish from grid poles and reels. These days, users can highlight how friends engage with their content through these notes, which are visible to a limited number of close friends or mutual followers.

Additionally, Instagram has started to display some likes as floating hearts on posts, which makes them pop out more. This is similar to disappearing notes.
