Together with the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Cyber Crime Wing, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority’s (PTA) Zonal Office in Peshawar successfully raided a mobile phone company franchise and a gang that was engaged in unauthorized SIM activations in Mingora, Barikot, and Batkhela.
It was discovered that the franchisee and a gang were engaged in the unauthorized issuing of SIM cards, which were subsequently found to be utilized for fraudulent and grey trafficking purposes. During the raids against illegal sim, 33 BVS devices, six laptops, ten mobile phones, and 600 SIM cards were taken as evidence. The FIA detained ten people on the property and is presently looking into the situation.
Based on allegations that the sales channel was issuing SIM cards illegally, the PTA had already filed complaints with the FIA about the sales channel’s unauthorized SIM card issuance. The PTA’s determination to end the unauthorized SIM card issue is evident from these operations.
